The Maryland General Assembly convenes today (January 9) in Annapolis for the first day of the session. The session is scheduled to end on April 8. Social studies educators are encouraged to contact their local Delegates and Senators to thank them for their support of social studies during the 2012 session and ask that they continue to lend their support to this vital content area in the future.
The Maryland General Assembly unanimously passed the Core Content Areas Accountability Act in a powerful statement of the importance of social studies in the minds of our State’s legislators. Let’s keep our discipline in the forefront of their minds. Legislators’ email addresses can be found at http://msa.maryland.gov/msa/mdmanual/07leg/html/gaco.html.
