Street Law, Inc. is conducting a Civics and Civil Rights Institute in Washington, DC, July 10–12, 2013. The professional development institute is open to high school social studies teachers from CT, DC, DE, MA, MD, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, and VA. Participants will spend three stimulating days in downtown DC expanding their knowledge and learning new methods for teaching African American students about civil rights and how they can be active, engaged members of their communities. Teachers will participate in a series of interactive workshops with high-caliber instructors and civil rights leaders that thoroughly examine past and current civil rights issues.
