Student Hannah Aris and Teacher Amie Sanner of Calvert High School Selected for Normandy: Sacrifice for Freedom Honor
Hanna Aris and Amie Sanner of Calvert High School in Prince Frederick, Maryland were selected as one of only 15 student/teacher teams from throughout the United States to engage in a rigorous study of D-Day and World War II. They will be immersed in lectures presented by leading World War II historians and walk in the footsteps of history on the beaches of Normandy. Hannah will also lay a wreath at the American Cemetery in France and present a eulogy for a soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice. This great experience is yet another example of the valuable experiences afforded to young people through their social studies education.
